The Michael Jackson Verdict

Random thoughts:

1. Instead of jury instructions, perhaps California jurors ought to get a dictionary with the pages for "reasonable" and "doubt" dog-eared.

2. Might the jurors have saved a little of their well-honed skepticism for the man publicly claiming to regularly sleep with little boys without any sexual impulse to do so?

3. Does anybody truly believe at this point that Michael Jackson is not a pedophile?

4. If MJ and OJ are any indication, "Celebrity Justice" is alive and well in America. If Will Smith ever decides to chainsaw a bunch of people to death, he's got a Get Out of Jail Free card for sure. I'm not so sure that 50 Cent would get a pass, though---he may not have enough Tiger Beat covers to beat a felony rap. And if Jennifer Garner gets the murder bug, watch out, America!

5. I've served on a Southern California jury, and I assure you that in the OC they're nowhere near as flaky as the bunch on display after this verdict.

6. Michael Jackson may well be the smoothest criminal ever. He apparently exclusively targets kids whose families will make weak plaintiffs. Has there ever been a more audacious offender than the King of Pop?

7. This won't be the last of his legal woes.
