The Aftermath

The dinner party was a smashing success---a bit too smashing.

The Portuguese chili in bread bowls was very well-received, as was the homemade angel food cake, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream dessert WordGirl whipped up. After dinner and dessert, we retired to the study, which the ladies promptly commandeered, for cigars and port. Things get a bit hazy after that; tequila made an appearance at some point, enjoyed by all if the shot glasses left behind are any indication, and at some point one of our artillery shells left over from the 4th was blasted off.

I tallied the damage this morning:

3 bottles of wine and 7/8 bottle of port.
1/2 bottle of fine tequila.
Various and sundry cocktails.
A beer or three.
8 cigars.

There were 5 people in our little party, and I'm fairly certain there were 5 empty seats in pews at various and sundry churches this morning.

No matter. Life is to be lived, not rued.

That is absolutely not true and you know it!

3 bottles of wine
Okay... well... yeah... But one bottle serves 4 glasses, give or take and one of those bottles had already had 1.5 glasses drunk from it when we started

7/8 bottle of port
3/4 at the MOST! ... I think

1/2 bottle of fine tequila
4 people had 1 shot each -- that's hardly HALF A FREAKING BOTTLE!

Various and sundry cocktails
One person had one screwdriver with grenadine

A beer or three
I recall no beer

8 cigars
3 of which were cigarillos

Don't be makin' me out to be the lush, Mister Fireworks Man! ;-)

I stand by my tally, as empties don't lie and the more empties there are, the hazier memory seems to get.
