Can I Get My Nuts Back Now?

'Tis the season for lousy left-wing writing on TV.

"Jericho" debuted last season with a bang---in the pilot, nuclear weapons went off in a number of major American cities, leaving the small town of Jericho, Kansas to cope with destruction on a vast scale.

Initially, the bombings were thought to be the work of North Korea and Iran, apparently through the deployment of nuclear weapons smuggled into America by terrorist cells. A newcomer to Jericho seemed to be connected to this terrorist organization, which had chosen the town as its rally point due to the favorable winds keeping fallout from Denver and elsewhere away.

It was a great premise, and the show quickly developed a loyal cult following.

So much so that when the series was cancelled, supporters sent packages of nuts into the network, referencing a key plot point which itself echoed the heroic U.S. Army paratroopers surrounded at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.

The series was renewed, but the episodes being cranked out now are uniformly terrible.

It's become clear that the nuking of America was a right-wing conspiracy, pulled off by a high muckety-muck in the Department of Homeland Security, naturally.

The black guy established to be the villain is, of course, the hero.

The Chinese supplies dropped in the aftermath were of course not the harbinger of a Communist invasion, but humanitarian aid.

Mercenary companies are the main heavies, second only to the U.S. Army.

It's the same old socialist boilerplate we've been fed for years by Hollywood, which once again has misread the interests and tastes of the American public. Cliche after cliche after cliche, all served up in breathless fashion, like the idiots who gasp at Michael Moore's propaganda while ignoring what he does with the millions he makes from it.

Now that Joel Surnow's off "24", another post-9/11 success because Jack Bauer actually fights, you know, people committed to destroying America who are NOT conservative Republicans, rumor has it the next season will be a nice, long, excruciatingly boring condemnation of Bauer's actions back when the show was not left-wing agitprop.

Both shows will now hemhorrage viewers and money, and be cancelled in short order, only to be replaced by the next pile of crap sitting on the producers' desks.

They never learn.

They'd better hope the real-world bad guys don't try to teach them.
