Six Days Left Until the "Rear Echelon Blogathon"
WordGirl and I are busily preparing for the 1st ever MoltenThought "Rear Echelon Blogathon" beginning at 12 am Saturday, July 2nd, and continuing until 12 midnight Sunday, July 3rd.
Why are we doing something so silly? Hath MacBeth murdered sleep?
WordGirl and I were both outraged by Democrat Senator Dick Durbin's comparison of American soldiers to Nazi stormtroopers. We've been on a slow burn for awhile about the grotesque bias against our fighting men and women in the MSM and the impression it creates among our armed forces that Americans don't support them. Durbin's comments and leading Democrats' refusal to criticize him for them was simply the last straw. We had to do something.
What we decided to do is to put our money where our blog is by raising money for a military charity. After some research, we settled on the Armed Forces Relief Trust, which is an umbrella organization servicing various service branch charities, including the Air Force Aid Society, near and dear to my heart as an ex-Air Force officer.
It was important to us to give to an organization which benefits those men and women on active duty right now. I personally give to veterans-related charities routinely, but I know from my own service how difficult it can be for soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen to take care of their families while serving their country in wartime. The folks at AFRT help them to do just that.
The tip jar at the right is open for business. Please contribute and show your continued support for the watchmen on the walls of freedom. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to AFRT, in addition to contributions from WordGirl and myself.
