What to say about Martin Luther King, Jr.?
Simply that he deserves his place in the top troika of great Americans, as it was he who finally swept away the final detritus of the Civil War and enabled our country to at last live up fully to the promise of the Declaration of Independence.
His "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" will be read through the ages, as will his "I Have A Dream" speech, although I think the former will have the longest legacy.
