Great News!
When I awoke from the "Rear Echelon" Blogathon-induced coma this morning, I had a very nice e-mail from Thirdwavedave emphasizing the importance of activities such as the Blogathon to support our troops as well as continued grassroots efforts to hold those politicians who do not (yes, you, Dastardly Dick Durbin) accountable politically for their lack of same.
Thirdwavedave then very generously offered to match the total of all donations received to that point himself. Following this wonderful act, another donor kicked in a nice sum, and our total Blogathon pot now stands at $478 as a result.
WordGirl and I will be putting our money where our aching fingers are as well, so within a few days AFRT will be receiving a check for more than $500 as a direct result of this effort and your generosity.
We'll let you know when the check (or, more likely, the online contribution, being web-savvy as we are) goes out. We'll leave the tip jar up a little while longer to allow anyone who missed the event to take part as well.
On behalf of WordGirl and the Armed Forces Relief Trust, thank you for your kindness, patience, and above all, for your support of the men and women of the U.S. military and their families in this time of peril and tumult.
