Since I'm In the C's on the Ipod...
I've got selected songs on the iPod by the fabulously squeaky Cyndi, including "Money Changes Everything", "She-Bop" (an innuendo I TOTALLY missed as an adolescent -- OHHHH! THAT'S what it means?! Thanks, VH1!) and "Time After Time, " (playing as I type. LOVE that song). I dig the "She's So Unusual" album in general. I've got the record at my parents' house somewhere... I should whip that badboy on the turntable some summer afternoon.
Cyndi was a breath of fresh air in a sea of brooding Barbies when she first appeared, half of her orange head clean-shaven, in the 80's. I liked her fearlessness; squeaky airhead persona, notwithstanding. You had to give it to her, she marketed her "look" like a serious businesswoman. A travelling carnival sort of vibe follows her wherever she roams.
I knew there was another ballad of hers that I loved, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. Good thing I googled her name. "All Through The Night." What a great tune.
