Weekend Photoblogging - Downtown Cemetery
WordGirl and I took a trip to a metropolitan cemetery yesterday to put our new Canon EOS 20D to the test, particularly a new wide-angle lens she let me purchase in a moment of weakness.
On a gray, overcast day, nothing seemed more appropriate than to trek to a 200-year-old cemetery.

Here is a pillar reminiscent of the Deco style WordGirl found particularly striking:
Here's a bell that looks like it'll ring on Judgment Day:

I love the dichotomy of the old cemetery and modern downtown Charlotte. Super pics, guys.
Teflon, please take this as the compliment it is intended, since your background and occupation are unknown to me: some professional photographers have not composed as well as your photos here. - wow!
Hey, me too, ME TOO!!! I did the first one!!! :-)
Thanks for the positive feedback.
WG and I are strictly amateurs---we've just started to get into digital photography, thanks to the amazing capabilities of our new camera and a couple of great books by Bryan Peterson on exposure and composition.
I had previously thought photography was easy---like painting without the work. Instead, I find it a lot like engineering---most of the time is spent thinking and problem-solving. To those of you who are amateur or pro photographers, my hat's off to you.
