Thank you for referencing our blog in your recent Post-Dispatch column.

Thank you most of all for calling attention to the heroic efforts of governmental and non-governmental relief agencies to get badly-needed supplies and assistance to the stricken Gulf Coast. In so doing, you've surely given a much-needed boost to the thousands of folks who've busted their tails to help their fellow Americans only to find themselves lambasted in the media for being too slow and too uncaring.

All it takes to keep these people going are some encouraging words and the hope that they're making a difference. With your column, you've given them both.

That's the crux of it, isn't it?

The LWM attempt to slam Bush also smeared the efforts of the legions of folks who rolled up their sleeves and headed for the disaster zone once Katrina passed.

They're still down there, sweating and working, tirelessly trying to ease the suffering of their fellow Americans, while a bunch of shellacheads mock and criticize them, when they don't outright ignore them.

Thank God these noble souls are there, doing whatever can be done, and getting accomplished what the carpers can only criticize but never improve upon.
