Mexico is awash in oil and blessed with some of the hardest-working people on the planet. Criminally bad leadership and a heartless robber baron class who'd rather export their poor north than provide them with economic opportunity are to blame. Socialist revolution won't fix these problems, but a revolution of some stripe seems to be in order.
