Is Iran Orchestrating the Opening Moves of World War III?

It's beginning to look that way.

I think this makes a lot of sense. The mullahs are betting everything on getting nukes, and you can bet this is not the beginning of a ten year battle: I doubt they'd do this if they didn't already possess a couple of nukes and have some capability to quickly build more. The Iranians cannot hope to fight us conventially (remember, they fought Saddam Hussein to a draw whereas we wiped the floor with the Iraqis twice). Instead, they will rely on nuclear weapons, and may seek to use one of the terror groups they control to detonate it so as not to leave clear fingerprints themselves. Remember, they don't need to fool the Americans, just the Europeans who already believe we're cowboys anyway.

Why bother?

Because the Iranians know there is no victory for us in the War on Terror so long as the mullahs rule in Tehran. They're trying to obtain the world's most expensive insurance policy, and they know from the North Korean example that they're likely to get it.

So keep the Americans busy in Iraq and Afghanistan and keep the Israelis busy in the West Bank and Lebanon (Gaza's next, my friends). Meanwhile, the bomb makers work double shifts in Iran. And soon we'll have no viable option for regime change in Iran, and no alternative but to lose the war, accepting sporadic terrorist attacks whenever the mullahs feel like we're getting too interested in their sphere of influence.

These are not stupid people---I think they've got at least a 50 pct chance of pulling this off.
