The Miers Aftermath

I think that some of the unkind things said about those of us who've advocated for the withdrawal of the Miers nomination have been proven blatantly false today, at least for those who've been reading The Corner and Michelle Malkin. You won't find gloating or hard feelings there, only an earnest desire for a new nominee we can all get behind.

To ensure this, the new nominee ought to be a rock-ribbed conservative with a solid professional resume and a first-rate mind. Luttig, Jones, Owens, or Brown would be wonderful. Then we'll get to see if the folks who advocated for Arlen Spector for judiciary chairman were right after all if a solid conservative nominee gets an up-or-down vote in the Senate.
