I'd bet it's due to the difficulty in seizing the moral high ground in American politics when all you're really advocating is snuffing unborn children and the elderly on the altar of The Public Good. Put a Right Reverend in front of your name, torture Scripture until it seems to confess, and you can go toe-to-toe with those pesky Christian moralists who don't believe in a Trinity consisting of Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

Of course, the Anything Goes denominations are withering on the vine.

Perhaps that's because we turn to religion for truth and life, not to get a heaping helping of the culture of death the Left serves up through all its various media.

Jesus may not be a Republican, but I guarantee you he's no liberal Democrat. It's probably a good thing for the Left he's not: if you thought he was mad when he chased the moneychangers out of the temple, you can imagine how furious he'd be when chasing the abortion cheerleaders out of the DNC.
