Famous Last Words

From "Famous Last Words: Fond Farewells, Deathbed Diatribes, and Exclamations Upon Expiration," compiled by Ray Robinson, Workman Publishing 2003.

"The public will never believe the innocence of the Clintons and their loyal staff. I was not meant for the job or the spotlight of public life in Washington. Here ruining people is considered sport."

-- Vincent Foster

Attorney Vincent Foster was a legal adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton during their rocky first year in the White House. The Whitewater and Travel Office scandals were bearing down on him when, in 1993, police found Foster's body in a Virginia park. His death was ruled a suicide, although some right-wing groups charged that the Clintons had him killed and then covered up the murder. This note was found in his briefcase.
